Spring in October

Hello everyone~
I know it´s been a couple weeks since I last posted on the blog, but it has been a pretty quiet couple weeks for Marianella and myself down here. Last Wednesday was the final day of teaching my English class, which was bittersweet. The time rapidly flew by in my two classes and I found a number of students quite eager to learn English and excited to have a native English speaker as their teacher. It´s great to work with such eager learners, and I´m sure I´ll meet more eager learners when I hook onto my next English teaching job.

What does October hold for us? Well, it should be a very hectic month, starting early tomorrow morning with our vacation to Argentina. It is Marianella´s spring break and we will be spending a majority of our time in Buenos Aires with a side trip to Iguazu Falls which borders Brazil. I will be sure to post many pictures and stories soon after we return from our vacation. We also have apartment hunting on our agenda once we return from Argentina; we have targeted November 1st as our move-in date for our own place. We also will be busy planning our second wedding reception sometime in November, so we can celebrate our matrimony with all of Marianella´s family. So, these quiet weeks of September will soon give way to quite a bit of activity (and much more interesting blogs).

One last note to send your way, for all of you who may be concerned about my safety here in Peru, I present a picture of the family dog, Chocolate (pronounced Choco-latte), who as you can see is quite the able watchdog. This picture was taken about a week ago, before the excitement of today. Each day I take Chocolate for a 15 minute walk or so, careful to avoid other dogs prowling the streets. Peru is full of wandering dogs and some are not Chocolate´s friends. Well today, we ran into one of his biggest enemies, a big Golden Retriever whose owner did not have on the leash. It was a brutal fight, with Chocolate getting bit on the ear causing a steady bleeding, but our boy seems to be on the road to recovery. Fortunately, Marianella´s brother German and cousin Diego were outside too when this occurred, and were able to separate the two combatants. Anyway, as stated Chocolate seems to be on the road to recovery and I´m sure by the time we return from the vacation, he will be back to his spry self. I hope everyone is doing well and I will update you on our adventures when we return from Argentina. Take care!

Awesome picture! It looks professional. Of course, I'm a sucker for a dog picture. Sounds like things are going well. Megan

Wow, now that's a watch dog...what a cutie. Sounds like you've got a nice lifestyle going there in Peru. I hope you both enjoy your honeymoon. can't wait to see some photos from your next jaunt around South America.

Saw Matt this morning as he was delivering a load of cheese to the Ralph's warehouse in Riverside, CA. He called me yesterday so we met for breakfast this morning and then back to work for both of us. He looks good and seems to be enjoying the road though this is his first trip with the new company.

Everything is very busy but we're all doing fine. Tell all hello from us here in CA!!!

That is a great picture! I wonder how Chocolate and Lilly would get along?

Hope you are enjoying your spring break and good luck with the apartment hunting.
Take care,
Jackie
